ABOUT WHEAT
OUR MISSION
Kids are made to explore the world to their hearts' content. Wheat exists to dress them for all life's big and small adventures, while using our business to contribute to more responsible practices in the clothing and footwear industry.
Born out of Denmark and the Scandinavian climate, we design to support active play year-round in all kinds of weather, with a focus on safety, comfort, premium features, and extended use. At the same time, we work to map our impacts and strengthen positive outcomes for the people and environments connected to our operations and value chain.
We do this by considering the impacts of our business. This includes engaging with stakeholders, creating good working conditions, prioritizing certified materials, working with suppliers that follow recognized social and environmental standards, applying due diligence processes aligned with international frameworks. And much more.
Our approach includes:
- Designing products of premium quality made to be used by as many children as possible
- Designing for durability, extended use, repairability, and in a way that supports end-of-life considerations such as recycling to the extent possible
- Prioritizing certified materials – such as GOTS, GRS, RWS, LWG, FSC
- Restricting the use of chemicals through compliance with recognised standards and certification schemes
- Partnering with suppliers that are covered by third-party social audit frameworks such as BSCI, SMETA, or WRAP
- Measuring our environmental impact, such as water use and CO2 emissions, to be able to set reduction targets
- Engaging with our stakeholders to incorporate their perspectives in decision making
We recognise that this is an ongoing process and are committed to continuously improving, and aligning our business with evolving best practices.
Timeless Scandinavian design
For more than 20 years, we have been designing clothing that gives children the freedom to do what they do best: be children.
Nature and the special magic of childhood are at the heart of Wheat. Think of classic Scandinavian children’s stories like Emil of Lönneberga and The Children of Bullerby, where children play freely in fields and forests.
You can recognize Wheat by:
- Harmonious colors: Selected to reflect the changing light and moods of the seasons
- Hand-drawn prints: Our iconic patterns of flowers, leaves, animals, and whimsical creatures are inspired by forests, coasts, and meadows
- Scandinavian simplicity: A calm yet adventurous aesthetic that balances the beauty of nature with the imagination of childhood
- Comfort and fit: Our designs are made for play and activity. We test and adjust the fit to suit children’s needs
