FOCUS & FEATURES
Water column indicates a material’s ability to withstand rain and moisture. The higher the water column, the better the protection in wet weather. A water column of around 8,000–12,000 mm is suitable for extended outdoor use, and as a rule of thumb, 8,000 mm can handle regular rainfall. However, always consider your own child’s needs – all children are different.
For rainy days, rainwear, thermal rainwear and technical outerwear are the obvious choice. Our puffer and softshell products also have a high water column, but without taped seams and are therefore best suited for light rain.
Breathability describes how effectively a material transports heat and moisture away from the body.
A breathability level of around 8,000 g/m²/24h contributes to a comfortable temperature – even during activity. This level of breathability makes technical transitional outerwear ideal for play and movement in changing weather, while in puffer products it helps regulate temperature and ensure comfort in cooler periods.
Abrasion resistance says something about a material’s robustness and durability. Materials with high abrasion resistance are developed to withstand daily use and maintain both fit and function over time – even when the outerwear is used actively during play.
To further extend the lifespan of the outerwear, our iron-on patches can be used for easy repairs if holes or wear occur. The patches are suitable for outerwear such as snowsuits and help keep the garment functional for longer.
Freedom of movement is defined by fit, material choice and construction. Flexible materials and thoughtfully designed cuts ensure that the outerwear follows the body’s movements without restricting.
